Each Spring South Texas
attracts Birders and Photographers from around the world.
Our Ranch with its Waterholes, Ponds and Feeding Stations
offers guests the opportunity to see and record a vast
variety of Bird, Mammal and Reptile Species.
The JHA Ranch has
participated in several nature photography contests. In
2008, we were honored to be selected as one of twenty (20)
host ranches to compete as a photographer-landowner team in
the Images for Conservation Fund Pro-Tour of Nature
Photography contest

We were paired with Mr. Jasper Doest, a professional nature
photographer from The Netherlands. You can see Jasper’s
outstanding work from the ranch here

which resulted in 5th Place Overall!

2010-11, the JHA again
competed as a professional photographer-landowner team in
the Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo Contest with many wonderful
images being taken here by David and Mary Bechtol. In
addition to Mary’s talents as a photographer, she is also an
incredibly gifted artist.

While on the ranch, Mary was
inspired to paint a beautiful landscape of the view from the
back porch of our Main House. See Mary’s painting titled

their work online and visit in person at their galleries!
We are currently in the
process of establishing photography blinds on the ranch in
order to provide our photographers with a unique and
rewarding experience. More information to come as we
progress with this exciting new venture! |
